The rituals of Hajj trace back to the time of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his family, commemorating their acts of faith and obedience to Allah
It is considered a highly recommended act of worship and a Sunnah (tradition) of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA)
A Journey of the Soul
The most common time for Umrah is during the holy month of Ramadan,Ā
Rami in Hajj refers to the ritual of “stoning the devil.” The full Arabic term is Ramy al-JamaratĀ which literally means “throwing at the jamarat
Story behind this Act
This ritual is a crucial part of the Hajj pilgrimage and takes place in the city of Mina, The ritual is a symbolic reenactment of a historical event from the life of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), his wife Bibi Hajara , and their son Ismail (AS)
Arafat is a large ground located about 20 kilometers (12 miles) southeast of Makkah. At its heart is a hill called Jabal al-Rahmah (the Mount of Mercy)
Hajis Stay
From noon until sunset on the Day of Arafat, pilgrims must be present in the plain of Arafat. They stand, sit, or find a spot to engage in intense prayer, supplication (dua), and repentance.
Ghar-e-Hira also known as the Cave of Hira, is a small cave located on the mountain of Jabal al-Nour (the “Mountain of Light”) near Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It holds immense significance in Islam because it is the place where Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) received his first divine revelation
Before his prophethood, Muhammad (SAWA) would often retreat to this cave to meditate and seek solitude, away from the corruption and idolatry of his society
Masjid Nimrah is built on the site where Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) is believed to have camped before delivering his Farewell Sermon during his last Hajj
The Khutbah (sermon) for the Day of Arafat is delivered from Masjid Nimrah by an officially appointed Imam. This sermon is a highly anticipated event, broadcast live to millions of people around the world
Safa and Marwa are two small hills located within the grounds of the Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. They are an integral part of the Islamic pilgrimage rituals of both Hajj and Umrah.
According to Islamic tradition, Prophet Ibrahim was commanded by God to leave his wife Hajar and their infant son Ismail in a barren, uninhabited valley in Mecca with only a small amount of water and dates. When their provisions ran out and Ismail began to cry from thirst, Hajar, in a desperate search for water, ran between the two hills of Safa and Marwa
